One of the last social prejudice

The Oscars have barely had time to find a place on the mantles before the hate mongers have come out of the woodwork slinging mud on the young girl who was nominated for an Oscar due to her weight problem. People like the classless Howard Stern are stating she is one of the fattest people he has ever seen. They also held a poll to see if people thought she had a chance at having a career in the movies. Talent does not come in one size or color so all you hate mongers leave the young woman alone to practice her craft.

As a large woman who started out as a large girl I have suffered from fat prejudices all my life. In America it does not matter how talented you are or how smart you are there are peoples who will not like you or value you because of your weight. Fat prejudice is one of the last acceptable, open prejudices left.

As a fat nurse I had the head of my department refuse to speak to me or interact with me due to my weight. And that only changed after he had his bacon saved from a lawsuit by this fat nurse.

If I had anything to say about her weight I would tell her that being greatly overweight does not determine how talented you are. But it will limit your ability to play a large range of roles you could be cast in and your health will suffer.

Good luck Gabourey. I hope your career will be long and rewarding!
