Stop and think before you hoist that new years drink
Many of you might think that I am the last person to comment on drinking. I don’t drink now but even in my younger days a dessert was more to my liking than an alcoholic beverage. I think I have can and will state strongly how I feel about drinking and driving especially since this weekend will be the time of much celebration and hoisting a few drinks to toast in the New Year.
San Diego is a town to party in but when it comes to drinking and driving it seems to have reached a new high with deaths from drunk drivers. Not only are adults causing this loss of life there has been a number of teenagers killing themselves as well as others. I fear that this weekend will be another excuses to bring out the bottle and then get behind the wheel.
I want each and every person who goes out to have fun on New Years Eve and New Year’s night since this will be a long weekend to STOP before you drink and drive. If you want to party and drink why not find a place to party then stay where you are? Or either have a designated driver or get a cab. Just don’t get behind the wheel.
Even if you are not drinking, being on the roads can be dangerous. You can be sober and that fool who is blitzed can kill you.
I would like to see stiffer penalties for drunk drivers and less passes when caught. So protect your self and others. If you have been drinking, DO NOT, under any circumstances, get behind the wheel. Stay safe and bring in the New Year alive and well.
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!
