I was raised around coaches and athletes all my young life so I have heard about how sports are played. You can also find me in front of the television watching the big three – baseball, football, basketball. You can throw in some boxing to keep the adrenaline going. If that isn’t enough this girl loves bull ridding and martial arts. I have my favorite teams and players. Brett Favre was once one that I loved to see play. I think I am now like the rest of the fans hoping he will just fade into the sunset and find a rocking chair and enjoy life.

His “I am going to retire and now I am not going to retire” has gotten to be just a tired refrain. The melody of that song is flat. There is nothing worse than a hero not knowing when its time it hang up their cleats and jersey and go home.

He is now playing for the Vikings and in a preseason game he made and illegal and possible career ending hit on Eugene Wilson. I am not sure if this was intentional or just what happens when an athlete gets old and slow and uses what skills he has left. Favre is now 39 and has spent most of his career playing in the severe cold weather so he is not the player he once was.

Brett go home. Let us, your fans, remember you as the fine player and gentleman you were for so many years. Its time to enjoy the fruits of all your labor!
