84 year old woman cops greatest threat
I have been a law bidding citizen for many years. I come from a family where my father was the first Black deputy sheriff in Asheville,N.C., and my sister-in-law was the first Black female cop in Greensboro N.C. So cop bashing is NOT first nature to me. Because of my background I know what a good law enforcement officer is supposed to be. So when I see stories like the one out of Columbus, Ohio, this week I cringe with disgust.
An 84 year old woman in a Wal-Mart parking lot seems to have been acting strangely first going after a young child and then when confronted started swinging her cane and a knife. This alone should have told someone that there was some dementia going on. Two cops came and for what ever reason could not take care of the matter without body slamming this poor woman to the ground.
Now I am 5ft 1 inch tall, and in my 6th decade, now walk with a cane. I have had assault training. I know that I could have done a better job of defusing the situation. I non bone breaking slap on the wrist with the night stick, and a body restraint without the throwing of her to the ground should have been sufficient.
I am not advocating that cops put themselves into harm’s way. They should go home safe and sound at the end of the day. But when two cops can’t restrain and 84 years old woman they are in the wrong business!

what has this world come to…I ask you? This lady was two years older than my mother. People have no respect. My mother (with her bad knee) was asked to remove her shoes and stand on one leg during one of the searches while going through the airport securtiy line. She said that her knee almost gave way and then she would have fallen to the ground. Give some respect people.

I think the world has lost all of its common sense. What the heck does standng on one leg have to do with national security? It you are elderly standing on one leg is a hard task.
