Drinking and Driving Does Not Mix

As a person who lived with a mate who saw nothing wrong with drinking and driving, I want it known that this is the worst kind of homicide. I used to lay in bed and wonder would this be the night I would get a call that he had hurt someone or had been hurt. I was blessed and never got that call. Banged up cars one or two weeks old, but no human causalities.

So today when I read an article that a man drunk and using a cell phone caused the death of five children, my blood pressure went up to far I was seeing stars. This man was driving drunk, using a cell phone and probably driving at too fast for the very inclement weather, killed these five kids who had no choice but to be in the car.

Why do these people continue to take this risk? Why in a large number of cases do innocent people die for someone else’s foolish crimes? When will society demand that these people are put behind bars? I don’t have an answer for these questions but my heart hurts for the parents of these children.

I hope the judge puts this man in jail without chance for parole. Killing him will be too easy. He needs to wake up each morning and be hunted by the faces of those sweet, innocent, beautiful children.
