Christianity and Bigotry: Strange bed fellows
Just when I had gotten the bad taste of Tammy Bruce’s article out of my system I came across an article by Bert Prelutsky. He is a commentator on a Christian radio station. He, under the guise of explaining why America is not racist, insulted many Black leaders and entertainers by stating if there was racism in this country people like Oprah, Will Smith, Colin Powell and Denzel Washington, would be slaves serving Mint Juleps and working in the fields.
I have never understood how bigotry and Christianity are compatible ideologies. Yet many fine upstanding Christians hate a whole race of people because their skin is different. Yet they will tan themselves to a golden brown and plumb up their lips to outrages proportions. Bert Prelutsky had the nerve to call the first lady a bitch! So much for the first amendment that allows you to print hateful things about our leader’s wife!
I am not sure what Bible this man uses or what he was taught about loving your neighbor, but it can’t be the same one I read.
If you look at the list of people he wants to send back to the fields of slavery, you will notice a few things. First these are people who have contributed much to the world. They give back to the less fortunate amd provide positive role models for all youths. Second the people he mentions are genuinely good people. As for brains they run rings around this small minded commentator. Do I smell fear and jealousy Mr. Prelusky ?
I have always had a theory about why whites hated Blacks. It is this. If we had been allowe to play on a level playing field where would we be now?
For all you hate mongers when you stand at the pearly gates I hope the slide to hell won’t be too bad. Excuse me, I have to shower after reading that hateful article.
