The obesity problem

Thank god, they have finally given me an answer to my weight problem.

There is a new Canadian study where scientist at Lavel University showed that after long sessions of intellectual work, the subjects were more likely to eat excess calories. Even though this test was only done with a small group of 14 subjects, the conclusions were overwhelming. One group was to relax in a upright position while reading, The next subjects were asked to do more mental work at the computer, memorization, and other tests, which was stressful. The students, after completing their work, were allowed to eat anything they wanted. The students who had done the heavy mental work ate 286 more calories. This in itself is not a large amount of calories. But with today’s society having moved away from heavy manual labor to a more sedentary and cerebral work force, is there any wonder the calories add up? If this is indeed true, children who spend days working hard in school, return home to their computers where they play intense games requiring high mental energy, will rack up the calories when snacking on high fat tidbits. Could this be one of the reasons for the rampant obesity in today’s youth? Add to this, the fact that our society has lost its zeal for physical activities to burn off the excess calories and you have a national obesity problem. For both children and adults.

This was just one small obesity study which gives us food for thought.
