Hospital care in San Diego California P1

Well it has happened again. A major mistake which has caused the death of another trusting patient.

The situation involved a patient’s breathing tube being repositioned after surgery on the advice of a radiologist without the input of the attending doctors. Was this procedurally correct? This hospital has been in the news for many mistakes and problems. It has also been the concern of the community for giving poor care and long waits in the emergency room. I personally know of a case where an elderly gentleman was in a car wreck and kept going back with complaints about being in constant pain. It took many trips to the ER and many more tests before someone finally found out he had fractured a cervical bone that required surgery. He went through many weeks of agony that took a neurologist minutes to discover what the problem was. After reading this article I went to the comments section and I could tell which comments seemed to be written by workers from the hospital.

Sure go ahead and blame the lawyers. Cloud the issue by blaming the patient. But the real thing to look at is did the hospital do everything by the book? Was every measure taken to make sure that patient safety was the primary objective? My son has insurance that says he has to go to Grossmont Hospital and you can be sure if he needs to go there, I will be at his bed side as his advocate. Yes we need this hospital in East County, but there needs to be a tightening of the rules that safeguard patient care.
